Here is a revised (oct. 27, 2006) cost estimate for shared costs:
The assumptions are a van such as a ford winstar, Gas at $2.25/gallon, 18 mpg., split 5 ways.

Based on 4 persons. To be used as reference only.

**Permit required for paddle trip -- there may be additional permits needed for post paddle exploration.

Possible inclusions = 1 night at a Moab Motel ($80/room) & chose to stop overnight ($60)on the way home.
$280/4= $70/per person -- 2 to a room/ 2 rooms


4/21/06 Barry wrote: "I called Tagalong Expeditions yesterday to ask about the time frame for shuttle reservations. She said if they were made in February that should be PLENTY of time to be assured of the days we wanted for a May trip.
Launch costs would be $4/person if we launched in Green River at the state park and $12/person downstream at Ruby Ranch...".

Barry wrote: "I called Tex’s riverways & Tagalong Expeditions, those are the 2 companies that do river shuttles. Their shuttle rate which includes shuttle upstream & the jet boat ride out is $125, Tex’s charges an additional $25 per personal boat. I did not see a boat charge for your personal boat with Tagalong but that does not mean they don’t charge.

Tagalong rents Coleman canoes for $12/day & I believe a better brand of canoe for $25/day, single sea kayaks are $25 day.
Tex’s rents Grumman canoes for $18/day, Old town canoes for $25/day & kayaks for $25. Tex’s rental I believe includes pfd &paddle, unsure about Tagalongs.

Each group must have a toilet system; these can be rented for $30. The NPS group backcountry permit for Canyonlands is $20

I spoke with a guy at Tex’s and got some info. Tex’s requires a minimum of 10 for the jet boat pickup although he said at that time of year that should not be a problem as groups can be combined."

Barry wrote: "I did a search for vehicles rented from Bham for May 19 7:00am -May29 2006 to 9:00pm just to get a general idea of prices. A Chevy trailblazer can be had for $500, a Ford Expedition for about $570, unlimited miles."
